Recruited to transform the Supply Chain function as it had been neglected/ mismanaged for some time. Transformation was required for the SC team to meet delivery to a new flagship customer account that doubled P2i’s revenue from $16m to $30m during 2021.

Accountable for all, procurement, sourcing inventory management, inbound, outbound logistics and facilities within UK and China, I have:

• Reviewed, addressed skills gaps, rebalanced capability, and stabilised the supply chain team structure and created Procurements teams in both the UK and China,

• Created a strategic management team representing each of the core business services, Procurement, Inventory, Planning and facilities, devised discreet projects to develop the functions value and strategic progress,

• Established regular team 1-2-1’s to support, coach and mentor the new team to achieve project deliverables,

• Engaged with stakeholders at all levels within the business to understand their issues, needs & requirements (essentials and nice to haves),

• Provided clarity and direction to the SC team and broader business,

• Implemented balanced Supply Chain strategy to accommodate responsiveness, flexibility and progression,

• Implemented a complimentary Category Management based procurement Strategy,

• Fully engaged the incumbent supplier base to understand expenditure, risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities,

• Eliminated supplier dependency, developed and onboarded new suppliers to create a balanced risk limited supply chain to support manufacture of business-critical products,

• Overhauled the Supply Chain Quality Management processes and procedures for annual ISO audits,

• Audited the tools, processes, procedures for the supply chain team, designed and implemented RFI, RFQ, RFP, SRM processes,

• Reviewed and implemented appropriate Terms and Conditions, contracting templates,

• Negotiated preferred supplier terms to support mass production supplier engagements,

• Identified and corrected significant discrepancies within the SAP inventory system due to poor set up and management unlocking MRP functionality and management data reporting to enhance decision making processes,

• Designed and Implemented KPI reporting from SC management team as the foundation for a monthly SC & Procurement performance board report,  

• Significantly reduced risk through enhanced risk awareness and regular risk heat mapping for business-critical elements,

• Reduced costs and targeted cost reductions through enhanced supplier engagement,

• Enhanced inventory obsolescence management and increased stock turnover,

• Devised a project pipeline to support continuous improvement.

January 2020 - December 2020

Programme Manager,
Tokamak Energy Ltd

Seconded by the CEO to the role of Bio-shield Programme Manager for a business-critical project to design and build a first of a kind, radiation shield to be retrospectively installed around the existing Tokamak Fusion reactor. Responsible for:

• All pre and post contract negotiation & management, JCT and NEC3 contracts,

• Health and Safety of all on site pre and post construction activities, meeting all CDM requirements 2015,

• Procurement of entire supply chain consisting of SME suppliers, designers, consultants, scientists, and academics who conceived and validated the design and build of a one-of-a-kind radiation shield,

• Management and scheduling of sub-contract construction, electrical, mechanical and ventilation installations,

• On and off-site logistics for material delivery in accordance with build sequence,

• Budget, risk and progress reporting to CEO and board of directors,

• Co-ordination of all onsite activities to minimise any interruptions to ongoing Fusion reactor development,

• Meet on site requirements for COVID testing and distancing during the first year of the global Covid 19 pandemic. 

I am immensely proud of my achievements and to be able to state that I successfully delivered the Tokamak bio-shield programme within particularly challenging context with constraints consisting of time, budget, space constraints, retrofit requirement, as well as a global pandemic. This secondment was an exploration into procurement led programme management which I found to be extremely rewarding and complimentary of my existing procurement skill set. It was a huge personal challenge, the experience of which has been invaluable to my professional development.

December 2018 - December 2019

Recruited to create and implement a professional procurement function from greenfield. Within 12 months I successfully:

• Recruited and coached a team of four procurement experts consisting of technical, direct and indirect procurement supported by function administration,

• Implemented tools and processes required to support tactical and strategic procurement activities,  

• Engaged with all stakeholders to co-ordinate efforts and plans to support the Tokamak fusion reactor build,

• Built an enhanced flexible supply chain comprising manufacturing, consulting, and specialist academic research to underpin the fusion research programme,

• Implementation of a cloud hosted ERP system (Microsoft Business Central), increasing system users from 12 to 60+,

• Introduced and implemented digital purchase requisitioning, providing budget holder management data and visibility, this required a significant change to the business' default mode of operation, which was received and positively embraced at all levels,

• Introduced and implemented procurement and related quality processes and procedures,

• Acquired Inventory and warehousing team under the Procurement team,

• Significantly reduced costs on incumbent supplier contracts, reduced inventory holding,

• Planning and implementation of sourcing strategies for multiple development projects.
